The ninth annual YouthBridge Social Enterprise and Innovation Competition has named this year’s winners, who will share $155,000 in awards. Winning teams represent community and WUSTL social entrepreneurs. Their ideas range widely, from helping the homeless find jobs to encouraging youth to pursue careers in science.

| Three beloved longtime Brown School faculty — representing 102 years of scholarship, research and collaboration — were elevated to new positions within the faculty this month during an installation ceremony in Brown Hall Lounge.

| Robert W. Gereau IV, PhD, has been named the Dr. Seymour and Rose T. Brown Professor of Anesthesiology at the School of Medicine. He studies the molecular mechanisms involved in pain sensation, and his research includes optogenetics, which uses light signals to activate or deactivate nerve cells responsible for transmitting pain signals to the brain.
